Building on our popular AI Days in Wales and across England, this is a practical, hands-on day. We will look at how artificial intelligence is already changing the way councils work, what Microsoft 365 and Copilot can do for a clerk's day-to-day, and how to start thinking about AI governance at council level.
Planning applications are getting longer. Resident expectations are rising. Clerks and officers are expected to read, understand and respond to more information, often with limited time and resources. At the same time, councillors need confidence that any use of AI is safe, transparent and properly governed.
The event is built around the everyday problems councils face, rather than technology for its own sake.
A central part of the day will look at planning. Delegates will see GovAssist specialist planning assistants in action, including how they can support the review of lengthy applications, summarise key information, analyse documents and help prepare consultation responses. AI provides a starting point, not the final decision, so the day also covers checking sources and applying human and professional judgement.
By the end of the day, delegates should have a clearer understanding of AI, practical skills they can use immediately and realistic next steps for their own council.

The cost of the event is £85 plus vat for the day or for those in the Annual Training Scheme it is just £15 plus vat to cover the cost of lunch only.
Parking is available & invoices will be raised after the event.
