This training session will suit Chairs of parish and town councils, Chairs of Committees, Vice Chairs and aspiring Chairs.
Topics covered will include
- Skills required
- Managing meetings
- Working with the Clerk, other councillors and officers
- Planning for success
- Understanding your Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and Code of Conduct
- Accountability
- Community engagement
It will be assumed that you have some prior knowledge about being a Councillor so should have read 'The Good Councillor Guide' (available on LALC website - 'Key Documents') or attended a recent Councillor induction and refresher course or have built up experience as a councillor.
