An introduction to the Planning System

This training is being delivered by Andrew Towlerton of Andrew Towlerton Associates, who is an experienced planner who has worked for local councils, local planning authorities and a planning consultancy.  He is also a Parish Clerk.

In this session we aim to help local councils understand their role within the planning system and how to get the most out of it. It will explore:

• Roles and responsibilities of local councils in the planning system

• National and local planning policy, including the National Planning Policy Framework

• Practical guidance on how to respond effectively to planning applications

• Use of material considerations and developer contributions

• Councillor roles and responsibilities and much more
