The role of the council as an employer, covering: 
• Legal duties as an employer
• Council Law and employment (civility and respect)
• Setting up for success (policies and standing orders/scheme of delegation)

The aim of this course is to describe and explain how the council should manage employees including the Clerk lawfully and what steps can be taken reasonably such as using delegated powers to set up a Staffing/HR Committee and its role.  It will touch on some of the pitfalls that councils should avoid and some of the important policies that every council should have in place. 

There will be time to ask questions with the speaker.
